The Cruise Begins
Amy couldn't say enough about how beautiful the Mariner cruise ship was and how exciting it was to board. Not only was she impressed, but her young son was too: when they were on the dock about to board, the ship was so huge to him that he pointed to one of thelifeboats and asked "That one?" The Mariner was so large he couldn't see the whole ship! On-board AmenitiesAmy decided to upgrade to the Penthouse to get the most out of her time on board, and with a young son the extra room was welcome. The Penthouse came with free satellite phone, internet minutes, and full butler service. Amy thought the butler service especially made the upgrade worth every dollar. ![]() The butler took notes on what types of foods and drinks her family liked, and the whole cruise Amy's refrigerator was always stocked with their favorites. She really appreciated that her son's favorite snack, dried nectarines, were always available (in place of sweets and sugary snacks). A lot of the time they didn't even tell the butler what they wanted. The dedication to service extended to the staff noticing what foods they ate a lot and the ones they left. As a result there was always a personally-tailored variety of food available. Mariner CuisineAmy tried both restaurants on board and other open dining restaurants. She and her husband are mainly vegetarians but love seafood, and were relieved to find many options at Prime 7, the contemporary steakhouse, as well as at the other restaurants. Any food from the open dining restaurants could be ordered and sent up to their room; complete with fancy tablecloth and dinnerware. The service along with the food was of extremely high quality. Since gratuities are included in the cost of the cruise, all the waiters, staff and the butler worked to provide genuinely great service, and as a passenger there was no need to worry about tipping. On-board Activities
After a long day of sight-seeing and activities, Amy enjoyed the amazing services of the Canyon Ranch Spa. Being on vacation can be really tiring, so it's great to have an escape from the busy day-tour experience! There is also an extensive fitness center with yoga, pilates and more. Sometimes for a low-key evening a family movie night and ordering in to the room was the perfect solution. Regent’s well-stocked library has DVDs for rent, and there are also the 100-plus channels on satellite TV. Some nights Amy enjoyed the Horizon Lounge, dancing and listening to live music. Another great feature was the Club Mariner Kid's Program, which has counselors to keep kids busy with activities, games, craft projects and movies. Amy said that when they docked to go on an excursion, her son was having so much fun he didn't even want to get off with them! Right now children under 18-years-old sail from just $999 on select voyages. Click here for more information. Ports and Excursions
Amy really enjoyed having a TV channel that detailed every day what would be available and fun to do in the ports they would be coming to throughout the trip. If she saw something fun to do in a port that was still a few days away, she could change their excursion plans with no problems thanks to Regent's Destination Services. Peace of MindSo what happens when things go wrong? On the last day of their trip in Istanbul Amy's husband fell ill with the stomach flu. This could have been an unhappy end to an otherwise great vacation, but Regent once again took care of the situation. The on-board doctor was able to treat him immediately; he got his medication and was taken care of free of charge! Whether it was child care, the luggage or even her family's health, Regent was there to take care of all the details. Gratuity for the staff was included, and all the little extras like dry cleaning were taken care of. Amy felt that was really the most valuable part of her experience, because it left her free to enjoy seeing six countries and spending time with her family. Amy's final thought was that "Regent was the most luxurious, all-inclusive and provided such peace of mind, it’s almost hard to imagine traveling on anything but all-inclusive cruises!" We are a valued professional partner of Regent Seven Sea Cruises. You may be wondering why you should book Regent from us.
